Why we Photograph

Photography is a way to capture an idea, create art, make history, or portray a visual message. These are just a few of the many reasons why we photograph.

Some people say that when they are looking through the view finder, they are looking for ideas and when they find the particular idea they are looking for, they push the shutter release button and their idea is captured only to be seen by many including friends, family, peers, and critics alike.

Sometimes people capture images that can make history. Some examples could include the inauguration of the President of the United States, or a gathering of the United Nations in New York City.

Others may just may want to try to portray a visual message. An example maybe of a photographer that goes around neighborhoods that have horrific living conditions or high rates of crime and post them up somewhere where people will see them and influence change.
